 The
Best of Glutenfreeda is one of our most exciting issues of
the year and as it happens it falls in August, one of our
most cherished culinary months. The summer months of July
and August find us turning our attention to the bounty of
natures sweet tooth, fruit and more specifically, berries.
I happen to live in an area where berries are one of the regions
most famous crops. Blueberries, strawberries, raspberries,
logan berries and blackberries all abound, each a colorful
jewel in mother natures treasure chest.
Think berries and one usually thinks of
dessert. The stars of countless desserts, berries also sparkle
as key ingredients in just about every other food preparation.
From breakfast to entrées, berries add their sweet
or tart nuances to limitless recipes in every category imaginable.
Weve used our imagination and have
prepared our list of the very best berry recipes ever!

Dont despair! When berry season is
over you can still enjoy frozen berries throughout the year.
To freeze your own berries, simply wash and drain them. When
they are dry, place them on a baking sheet, as many as will
fit in a single layer. Place the sheet in a freezer and freeze.
When the berries are frozen, transfer them sealable plastic
bags and store in the freezer until ready to use.
