If you’re in the mood for slow cooked comfort food, you’ve come to the right place!  We’ve put together a collection of our 10 favorite, ‘stick to your ribs’ hearty recipes that are sure to bring a smile and a contented sigh to anyone’s lips.

The savory flavors in our recipe collection blend perfectly with each other and should be either served with mashed potatoes, rice or gf pasta.  Add a nice bottle of wine, and you’ve got a meal that will satisfy your palate and warm you down to your toes.

The Top 10

Chuck Roast with Wine & Porcini: This is a featured recipe this month and an elegant twist to a standard pot roast.  A spectacular dish, suitable for entertaining on a chilly winter evening.
Osso Bucco: a classical favorite that can be made the traditional way with veal shanks or substituted with beef shank; either way, a superb meal for family or guests.
Coq au Vin: another classical favorite from the French that marries chicken, mushrooms and wine into a delectable sauce.  Ideal for family or entertaining.
Louisiana Meatloaf: this isn’t your grandmother’s meatloaf!  This dish is bursting with flavor and a fair amount of heat.  The vegetables, ketchup and cream are cooked ahead of time and blended into a rich sauce that is cooled and then mixed into the meat mixture and baked.  If you think meatloaf is second class, think again, this dish will knock your socks off!
Chicken Pesto Lasagne: this version of lasagna is so good, that I have served it several times at large non-Celiac parties to rave reviews.
Halibut w/Tomato-Spinach Sauce: halibut is generally not considered a hearty dish, but this recipe transforms it into a meal fit for a king.  The halibut sits on a bed of mashed potatoes surrounded with vegetables drizzled with a decadent sauce.
Steak Stuffed Baked Potatoes: this is a perfect week night family meal that is sure to become a family favorite.  Baked potatoes stuffed with steak and mushrooms and a wonderful sauce;  we wouldn’t change it but might suggest making extra sauce!
Chicken Chorizo and Rice Skillet: the seductive flavors of Mexico and chorizo sausage combine to make this dish one of our favorites.  The entire meal cooks in one skillet.  Serve with warmed corn tortillas.
Beef Stroganoff: what could be better than tender beef, mushrooms and onions bathed in a rich sour cream sauce served over gf pasta or rice?  This hearty meal is easy to make and can be prepared in under an hour.
Shepherd’s Pie with Spinach: the epitome of feel good food, our Shepherd’s Pie is a full meal that needs no accompaniment other than a fresh green salad.
