 In
my opinion there is nothing better than grilling your favorite
meat, fish, vegetable or even fruit during the summer months.
Not only does this method of cooking produce incredible results
but it is also easy, often low fat and doesnt require
as much clean up time once your meal has been devoured! To
help you out this summer here are some simple tips to help
you become a master at the grill:
- Always make sure you start off with a
clean grill rack. Scrub the grill rack and spray it or rub
it down with vegetable oil.
- When grilling it is a good idea to keep
a spray bottle filled with water to put out potential flare-ups.
- Keep the grill cover on while cooking
to lock in the heat and also to reduce the possibility of
flare-ups.
- If making kebabs or "skewers"
and using wooden skewers make sure that you soak them in
water for at least 20-30 minutes before grilling to prevent
the wood from burning.
- Whenever grilling, use tongs to turn
the meat. A fork should never be used as it will punch holes
in the meat and allow the natural juices to escape, causing
the meat to lose flavor.
Tomato
& sugar based barbecue sauces should only be added at
the end of the grilling process, since the sugar in these
products will burn easily.
