Tokyo Express

This month we travel to Japan for artistic and delicate meals that are also very nutritious. Japanese dishes are served simply and cleanly. The food is often served separately to insure the maximum aroma and taste from every ingredient. Enjoy an all time favorite, Yaki-tori, you can prepare this delicious recipe by either grilling or broiling. Try our Miso soup for sensuous soup that will delight your taste buds and provide a healthy meal, or a meal in a bowl, with Udon. Udon, frequently served for lunch in Japan is delicious noodle soup made from wheat flour. We have modified our ‘Udon’ and have used Soba or buckwheat noodles, made from 100% buckwheat flour. Try our Japanese style salad; Japanese Slaw a quick combination of fresh vegetables and oriental seasonings. Donburi rounds out our rice dish. Donburi is traditionally a large bowl with a cover filled to the top with rice and a generous amount of slivered and flavored meat, fish and or vegetables. We have included an easy recipe for Sukiyaki. Traditionally prepared at the table, sukiyaki is a combination of thinly sliced meat and vegetables cooked quickly in a very hot pan or skillet, guaranteed to please your guests or family. And of course there is Sushi. This month our Cooking Class focuses on ‘Cooking Sushi at Home’. Making sushi is fun, delicious and very rewarding. Join us this month in our tribute to Japanese cooking. Pour some tea, or gf sake and indulge!
