Crazy About Hazelnuts

Hazelnuts are one of those delightful ingredients that will add an extra zing to almost everything they are combined with. Their unique fragrance and crunchy texture can transform a good recipe into a sensational one. Try substituting them for recipes that call for other nuts to create a bolder and more distinct flavor.

Before using hazelnuts, they must first be toasted and peeled. Here’s how you do it:

Heat your oven to 300 degrees. Spread a layer of hazelnuts onto a dry baking sheet and bake for 15 to 20 minutes. The nuts should be browned and fragrant. Remove from oven and place on a clean kitchen towel. Rub the hot nuts between the cloth to remove the skins. Not all the skins will rub off. Separate the nuts from the skins and discard the skins. The nuts are now ready to chop or add to your recipe.

Try these recipes that feature the wonderful, robust flavor of hazelnuts.
