Let’s face it – times are tough for many of us these days. It seems we are all looking for ways to make the most out of our dollar and that could mean trimming the food budget. We all know that living on a gluten-free diet is typically more costly due to the higher costs of gluten-free foods. But there are ways to save. First and foremost, try to focus on naturally gluten-free foods. Second, be prepared when you go to the store with a list. This will help eliminate the impulse purchases which will often very quickly increase your grocery bill. And third, plan your meals a week at a time. This way you will avoid going to the store throughout the week (and again avoid adding things to your cart that you don’t necessarily need).
This month I’ve prepared a week’s worth of meals. All of the meals below should range between $20 to $30 for a meal for 4. That comes out to about $5 to $7.50 per person which I think is pretty reasonable and will hopefully fit into your budget as well. Note: My cost estimate assumes that you have some basics on hand like oil, salt, pepper and common spices.
