Happy Mother’s Day to all Mother’s everywhere! This featured article, however, is not meant for Mother’s, but rather for husbands and children who want to be able to give mom the ultimate present – a breakfast/brunch made by those who love her. Now, whether you are a seasoned chef or someone who rarely ventures into the kitchen, we’ve got a lovely menu that is delicious and can be made quite easily. So let’s get started:
Mother’s Day Brunch Menu
(serves 4)
Orange Juice, Coffee or Tea
Strawberry Bread with Strawberry Cream Cheese Spread
Egg Bonnets
Home Fries with Scallions
Gf Bacon
Fruit Dipped in Chocolate Fondue |
| Shopping List (based on 4 servings): |
Eggs & Dairy:
- ½ cup cream
- Unsalted butter
- 10 eggs
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ¼ cup sour cream
- 8 oz. cream cheese

Baking Aisle & Spices:
- 4 oz semi –sweet chocolate
- Paprika
- 1-1/2 cups gf flour (we use The Gluten Free Pantry’s Country French Bread flour mix – readily available at most stores)
- Cinnamon
- 1 cup + sugar
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- ½ cup chopped pecans

Misc.
- Corn tortillas
- ¼ cup gf salsa
- Orange juice
- Coffee or tea (whichever mom likes best)

Produce:
- Basket of fresh strawberries
- 2 bananas
- 1 orange
- Fresh pineapple
- 1-1/2 lb. Russet potatoes
- 1 onion
- 1 bunch scallions
- 1 bunch of cilantro

Meat:
|
Liquor store (optional):
- 1 teaspoon brandy (optional)
|
Frozen:
- 10 oz. frozen strawberries
|
Things you will need but probably have:
- Olive oil
- Salt and pepper
- Baking soda
|
Game Plan:
2 days before:
Day before:
- The night before Mother’s Day make the Strawberry Bread. Let the bread cool completely and wrap in plastic wrap
- Cut up the fruit for the fondue
Mother’s Day:
- Boil the potatoes
- Prepare the egg bonnets
- Put the egg bonnets in the oven
- Fry the potatoes
- Cook the bacon
- Make the chocolate fondue (keep warm over the low heat)
- Serve
