Celiac Awareness Month is definitely on the map this year! Gluten-free has hit the big time becoming a very visible part of all of our lives, not just for us with Celiac disease. ‘Gluten-free’ has definitely moved into mainstream through grocery stores, restaurants, internet sites and more. This year it will not be just people with Celiac disease celebrating Celiac Awareness Month but thousands of others who are on a gluten-free diet for various reasons.
Glutenfreeda Foods joins the celebration by making a donation to the CSA. Through other business endeavors, Glutenfreeda Foods was in a position to donate $30,000 of frozen gluten-free products to the Omaha Nebraska Food Bank through the CSA; Celiac Sprue Association. This gift includes the industry’s top brands with foods that range from entrees through snacks. It is our hope that anyone in need will be able to benefit from these items, not just those requiring a gluten-free diet but also those requiring a gluten-free diet.
Although so much has been accomplished to bring awareness to the struggles of Celiac disease, there is still much to be done. We, at Glutenfreeda Foods, encourage everyone to continue to support efforts to put pressure on the FDA to pass legislation to standardize labeling for gluten-free foods. As more and more products are labeled ‘gluten-free’, standardized labeling is the only way to ensure that proper testing and handling procedures are being followed.
There is so much to be thankful for and so many to thank who have helped to make all of our lives better. Our hats are off to all advocates of the cause.
Happy Celiac Awareness Month from Glutenfreeda Foods!
