The holiday season just wouldn’t be the same without scrumptious seasonal fruit medleys like pears and cranberries. The sweet flavor of pears is perfectly complimented by the tart, crisp tang of cranberries in many of our favorite recipes, both savory and sweet. Pears add a delicate sweetness all their own as a main ingredient or pair (no pun intended) beautifully with other fruit, such as apples.
Breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert, pears and cranberries are perfect anytime. During this holiday season start the day off with, Pear & Cranberry Stuffed Crepes. Sinfully decadent, this recipe is guaranteed to start the day off deliciously.
Ready for lunch, or a starter to a perfect meal? Try Salad with Cranberries, Pears & Cashews. Crisp, sweet, tart and crunchy; this salad has it all!
Side dishes are terrific with a pear and cranberry combination, one of our favorites is Wild Rice with Leeks, Pears & Cranberries. This dish is great with turkey, chicken or pork. Speaking of pork, how does Pork Chops with Pear & Cranberry Chutney sound? This chutney is easy to make and will turn your chops into a masterpiece!
No Thanksgiving meal would be complete without cranberry sauce and we’ve got the hands down best homemade cranberry sauce recipe, Cranberry Sauce with Port Wine & Pears. If your family thinks that cranberry sauce is something that comes in the shape of a can, they have a wonderful surprise ahead of them. This recipe will change your cranberry sauce expectations for good!
For dessert, we have two pear crisp recipes. We could not choose between the two, so we decided to present both for this year’s holiday celebration. The first is Fresh Pear Crisp with Dried Cranberries and the second is Apple Pear Crisp with Rum Raisin. The first is a more traditional crisp that will become any pear lovers favorite. The second marries the flavors of fresh apples and pears with rum simmered raisins. You can also substitute the raisins for dried cranberries with fabulous results!
Indulge in the great taste of pears and cranberries this holiday season and we’re confident that your family and friends will not only beg you for the recipes, but request them at your holiday table for years to come.
Happy Holidays,
Chef Yvonne
