Product Tested: Arrowhead Mills Gluten Free Vanilla Cake Mix

Taste
We found the vanilla flavor to be close to that of a wheat flour white cake. The cake is best eaten shortly after frosting. We did not give this cake a very high score for taste because the texture overwhelms the taste.

Texture/Appearance
We were disappointed in the texture and heaviness of this cake. We found it to be dense and gritty. The instructions on the package say to bake it in 9" cake pans, but we found that the batter was thin and the cake didn’t rise very much. The cake may have risen better if baked in 8" cake pans.

Ease of Preparation
This cake is very easy to prepare and requires few additional ingredients.

Availability
This product seems to be reasonably available either online or in natural food stores.

Overall Score
(2.50) We would not recommend this mix to those who are looking for a good gluten-free cake.
