The ham we purchase came frozen which would make this product last for a long
time in the freezer. We thawed it gradually in the refrigerator but you could
speed up the process by thawing it in a bowl of cold water. So far, we are unaware
of any store who sells this product chilled not frozen.

find this product at your local natural food store — if not ask them for
it!

Beeler’s Boneless Ham Ingredients:
Beeler’s Pork, Water, Sea Salt, Turbinado Sugar, Natural
Spices, Lactic Acid Starter Culture.
We came across this product in Vitamin Cottage
and were excited to see that the label clearly identifies
these pork products as gluten-free. Ham has always been a
concern, as far as whether or not it is gluten-free, because
of the potential additives to cure it that may or may not
contain gluten.
After researching this company and its farming
practices, I am even more excited and impressed about this
product. Beeler’s farms using what they call the Heluka
method. Heluka® pigs are allowed to
grow at their own, natural rate. Growth promotants, antibiotics,
nor any other chemicals are ever used to enhance their growth.
They work to ensure their happiness by raising them in an
environment that provides outdoor access, sunshine, and bedding.
Their label clearly states that there are
no artificial ingredients, pork products are only minimally
processed, no preservatives are added (this means no nitrates
or nitrites have been added) the animals are raised without
antibiotics or growth promotants ever administered by any
form, are vegetarian fed and every Beeler meat product is
also Gluten free.* (except for their new frozen gourmet entrees).
We were only able to find the following
products at Vitamin Cottage: Boneless Ham, Baby Back Ribs,
Bacon & Sausage — but after visiting their website
we discovered that they also offer a variety of other pork
products to include Bone-In Ham (both in half or whole sizes)
and sausage links and patties, among others.
So how did it taste…..wonderful. Normally
I’m not a huge ham fan but this ham was not too salty
but just salty enough and was tender and juicy. I would definitely
recommend these products to anyone with gluten intolerance
(or anyone without for that matter!).
