Betty Crocker gluten-free mixes are a dream come true for many of us. The availability, affordable price and ease of preparation will be welcomed by the Celiac and gluten-free community. We couldn’t wait to test their new products, Yellow Cake, Brownies, Devil’s Food Cake and Chocolate Chip Cookies. It was a hard decision where to start but we settled on everyone’s favorite; brownies.
The ease of preparation is certainly true, add eggs and melted butter mix and you’ve got it. We baked the brownies in an 8”x8” glass baking dish for 30 minutes. The brownies rose to about an inch. Right out of the oven they looked perfect! Just like traditional brownies. And the taste? They taste great. There is no grittiness, they taste just as they should. We thought the brownies were a little too moist which could be corrected by leaving them in the oven for a few more minutes. After cooling, the brownies remain very moist and chewy-these are not cake like brownies. We sampled the brownies the next day and they were very chewy and almost sticky. |
