We tested the Toastabags with a slice
of bread as well as with 2 pieces of bread with cheese between
them (like Grilled Cheese). If you have a large toaster this
product would work great. We had some difficulties getting the
bread in the bag so that it would fit all the way down when
the toaster was depressed. As a result we had to flip the toast
around to get it to toast the side that didn’t fit in the
toaster. But the product did work. It toasted the bread perfectly.
We also tested the "Grilled Cheese" and it worked
quite nicely as well. The added benefit of this type of Grilled
Cheese is that you can eliminate the added fat because you don’t
need the butter on the outside of the bread.
A word of caution: when removing the
Toastabag from the toaster be very careful — they are
very hot! The company says this product is perfect for kids…we
would disagree simply due to the possibility that they could
burn themselves if handling the Toastabag directly after it
has been "toasted"! Definitely something to be handled
by an adult.

 For
the first time ever at Glutenfreeda.com we are testing a "non-food"
item. We were sent this product "Toastabags" because
the company felt that it would be a great item for Celiac's.
The product is a bag that is made to fit sort of as a "glove"
around breads, sandwiches or other items that you wish to
toast but don’t want to place directly in the toaster
for fear of cross contamination. The material that the Toastabag
is made from complies with F.D.A. Regulations and is U.S.D.A.
approved for food contact applications. The bag is reusable
and can be washed in warm soapy water or placed over the plate
prongs in a dishwasher.
This is a very interesting product…and
would be a great thing to have if traveling and if you plan
on toasting your bread or if you share a toaster with the
rest of the family (non-Celiac’s).
