No weird taste or aftertaste, but also not sweet like “normal” whole grain bread - definitely a winner!

Pretty much just the same as their sandwich bread, but did not hold up super well to steaming or condiment usage…

While Udi’s has nationwide distribution and is even available at my not-super-gluten-free grocery store, they have been pretty much consistently out of stock since the buns launched!

Can I just say “wow!” As if I didn’t already have an unhealthy love affair with Udi’s products, these hamburger buns have sealed the deal. Just like Udi’s sandwich bread, they come in both standard white and whole grain, and have a similar texture – bubbly, airy and pretty tasty. I was a little bit frustrated that the steamed buns tended to get kind of soggy and a little sticky, but will have to try again. The grilled buns came out much better than the steamed set, and the light toasting helped them hold up better to condiments, too. All in all, they were a little bit small (wider and less tall would have been better), not unlike many “normal” white buns, but by the time I was almost through my burger, they were definitely starting to sag. We’re not talking about a Sloppy Joe here, just a cheeseburger with maybe a teaspoon each ketchup and mustard, but by the end of the day, the bun was beginning to crumble and fall apart - eek! Still, a serious improvement over some of our um, homemade experiments and lettuce wraps – need I say more?
