Good chocolatey taste – not too sweet but sweet enough.

Both products were very moist and didn’t have that very typical dry texture usually associated with gluten-free baked goods. If I thought there was one negative is that they were almost a little too moist. That said, my kids also tried these products and there wasn’t any left. In fact my son said “the chocolate ring tings were the best – they were soft and chewy almost like a Twinkie”, (although, I’m not sure if he has ever had a Twinkie!).

Shabtai’s Ring Tings & Brownie Bits are shipped frozen or can be purchase frozen at select stores. Let thaw at room temperature before eating. Because they contain eggs, I would recommend eating them within a day of defrosting, and storing them in the refrigerator.

This product looks homemade – which is not necessarily bad. What really counts is the taste and considering that this product contains no gluten, no dairy and no soy – it does have a good taste.

This month we tested products from Shabtai Gourmet. Shabtai Gourmet is a bakery in New York dedicated to creating baked goods for people with multiple allergens. Their products are gluten-free, casein-free, lactose free, soy free and dairy free and are manufactured in a dedicated bakery. Their products are also certified Kosher for Passover and Kosher Parve.
The two products we tested were Shabtai’s Ring Tings and Brownie Bites. Both were quite good – soft and slightly chewy and each had good flavor. The Ring Tings are little moist chocolate cakes with a vanilla crème filling and the brownie bits are…well little bites of brownies, of course! |
