Product: Pamela's Cookies

• Chocolate Double Chip
• Lemon Shortbread
• Chocolate Chip Walnut
• Carob Hazelnut
• Pecan Shortbread

Pamela’s cookies are wheat-free, gluten-free and can be purchased in many health food stores or on line at www.pamelasproducts.com, or by calling (650)952-4546.

We taste tested five varieties of Pamela’s cookies with mixed results. Eaten as stand alone cookies, we found the shortbread varieties to be the best and closest to the real thing in taste and texture.

A wonderful secondary use for these cookies is to use them for crumb crusts for cheesecake of pies. Just grind the cookies in a food processor until moderately fine, then use as you would for any graham cracker or cookie crust. Yum! We particularly like the shortbread cookies for our cheesecake crust.

Chocolate Double Chip
Very chocolatey. Although the cookie is not crunchy, it is somewhat dry.
Score: 2-1/2

Lemon Shortbread
Tart lemon flavor and almost perfect shortbread consistency.
Score: 4

Chocolate Chip Walnut
Not much flavor. The strongest flavor is from the walnuts.
Score: 2

Carob Hazelnut
Very dark in color. Soft and chewy with a dense consistency. Very little flavor.
Score: 1

Pecan Shortbread
Great shortbread texture with a lovely pecan flavor.
Score: 3-1/2

Although readily available and therefore convenient, we prefer home-made gluten-free cookies and feel the added time it takes to make them is definitely worth the effort. If you do not bake, Pamela's cookies can satisfy a cookie craving.
