1 teaspoon olive oil 2 Tablespoons brown sugar 1 medium red onion, sliced and separated into rings 1/4 cup water 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar 1 Tablespoon fresh ginger, peeled & minced
Heat olive oil in a medium skillet over medium high heat. Add brown sugar and onions; cook, stirring occasionally, until onions are lightly browned, about 5-7 minutes. Add water, balsamic vinegar and ginger; bring mixture to a boil. Cook for about 3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
Serve as a flavorful garnish for beef, pork and poultry.
