24 green beans 1 Tablespoon unsalted butter 1 shallot, minced 1 teaspoon ginger, peeled & minced 2 teaspoons hoisin sauce 1-2 Tablespoons sesame seeds, toasted Kosher salt to taste
Place beans in a pot of boiling salted water. Cook until just tender. Drain and immediately plunge into a bowl of ice water. When beans are cool, drain and set aside until just before you are ready to finish the dish.
Melt butter in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add shallots and ginger; sauté for 1-2 minutes or until tender. Add green beans and hoisin sauce; sauté until beans are warmed and thoroughly coated with sauce. Adjust seasonings to taste with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds over top and serve.
To toast sesame seeds, place in a dry skillet over medium heat. Cook until lightly toasted, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let cool.
