Pizza Spaghetti

Ingredients

1 Tablespoon olive oil
1 pound Italian sausage
1 package Hormel pepperoni, slices cut in half
2 onions, chopped
2 garlic cloves, chopped
2 teaspoons dried oregano
2 teaspoons dried basil
1 teaspoon salt
Two 15 ounce cans of gf pizza sauce
One 28 ounce can of crushed tomatoes
1/4 cup tomato paste
2 Tablespoons gf brown sugar
1/4 cup dry red wine
Salt and pepper
1/2 cup black olives
Parmesan cheese
Gf spaghetti noodles

Directions
Heat a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add oil. When hot, add sausage, 1 chopped onion and garlic. Saute until sausage is browned. Strain off any grease. Add 1 teaspoon oregano, 1 teaspoon basil and salt. Add pizza sauce, crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, brown sugar and wine and mix all until blended. If sauce looks too thick add a little water.

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 1-1/2 hours. If sauce gets too thick, add more water.

Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook spaghetti according to package instructions. Add pepperoni and olives to sauce and cook for 10 more minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve sauce with spaghetti and top with Parmesan cheese.
Tips
We used Tinkyada’s Spaghetti for this recipe.

For Italian sausage:
1 pound ground pork
1-1/4 teaspoon fennel seeds
1 teaspoon anise seed
1 teaspoon paprika
1-2 garlic cloves, minced
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon coarse ground pepper

Mix all ingredients together.
