Ingredients
1 Tablespoon olive oil 3/4 pound ground beef 1 cup onions, chopped 2 garlic cloves, minced 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 1/2 teaspoon fennel seed 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano 1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram 1/2 teaspoon dried basil Dash of hot red pepper flakes 1/2 cup dry red wine Salt and freshly ground black pepper 1 pound gf penne 1/2 cup Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, grated Fresh basil for garnish
Directions
In a large saucepan heat olive oil over medium heat and brown the ground beef. Remove ground beef and set aside. Add onions to pan and sauté for 5 minutes or until onions are tender. Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds and return meat to pan. Add garlic powder, pasta sauce, fennel seed, oregano, marjoram, basil, red pepper flakes and red wine. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, or 10-15 minutes. Adjust seasonings to taste with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
Meanwhile, prepare pasta according to package directions. Drain. Divide pasta among 6 shallow pasta bowls. Spoon sauce over pasta and garnish with parmesan cheese and fresh basil.
