Ingredients
1 Tablespoon canola oil 2 garlic cloves, minced 1-inch piece of ginger, peeled and minced 1/2 cup gf soy sauce 1/3 cup brown sugar Dash of hot red pepper flakes 1-1/2 pounds flank steak Salt and freshly ground black pepper Olive oil
Directions
Prepare grill.
In a small saucepan heat oil over medium heat. Add garlic and ginger; sauté for 2 minutes. Add gf soy sauce, sugar and a dash of hot red pepper flakes. Increase heat to medium-high; cook, stirring, until syrupy, about 5 minutes. Adjust seasonings to taste with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Let cool.
Set aside 2 tablespoons of soy-ginger glaze.
Season steak with salt and freshly ground black pepper on both sides. Spray both sides with olive oil.
Grill steak for 10 minutes total, turning half-way through, for medium-rare. During last 2 minutes of grill-time, spoon half of the soy-ginger glaze (the larger portion of the sauce not 2 tablespoons)on one side. Let cook for 1 minute. Flip steak and repeat with remaining sauce.
Transfer steak to a cutting board and tent with foil to keep warm. Let rest for 5 minutes. Thinly slice steak on the diagonal and brush with reserved 2 tablespoons of soy-ginger glaze. Serve.
