Ingredients
1 Tablespoon canola oil 2 garlic cloves, minced 1" piece of ginger, peeled and minced 1/2 cup gf soy sauce 1/3 cup brown sugar Dash of hot red pepper flakes 1-1/2 pounds flank steak Salt and freshly ground black pepper Olive oil
Directions
Prepare grill.
In a small saucepan heat oil over medium heat. Add garlic and ginger; sauté for 2 minutes. Add gf soy sauce, sugar and a dash of hot red pepper flakes. Increase heat to medium-high; cook, stirring, until syrupy, about 5 minutes. Adjust seasonings to taste with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Let cool.
Set aside 2 tablespoons of soy-ginger glaze.
Season steak with salt and freshly ground black pepper on both sides. Spray both sides of flank steak with olive oil.
Grill steak for 10 minutes total, turning half-way through, for medium-rare. During last 2 minutes of grill-time, spoon half of the soy-ginger glaze (the larger portion of sauce not the 2 tablespoons)on one side. Let cook for 1 minute. Flip steak and repeat with remaining sauce.
Transfer flank steak to a cutting board and tent with foil to keep warm. Let rest for 5 minutes. Thinly slice steak on the diagonal and brush with reserved 2 tablespoons of soy-ginger glaze. Serve.
