1/2 teaspoon cumin 1/4 teaspoon coriander 1/2 teaspoon chili powder 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves Salt and freshly ground black pepper Olive oil 1/2 large onion, thinly sliced 2 Tablespoons unsalted butter 1/4 cup white wine vinegar 1/4 cup brown sugar Two 6 ounce rib eye steaks
Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onions; cook until softened and golden brown, about 20 minutes. Add vinegar and sugar; cook over medium-high heat until thickened, about 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, combine cumin, coriander, chili powder and cloves in a small bowl. Rub mixture on both sides of steaks. Season steaks with salt and freshly ground black pepper on both sides.
Grill steaks for 5 minutes on each side or until done. Remove from grill, tent with foil and let rest for 5 minutes.
