Ingredients
1 pound walnuts, shelled 1-1/2 teaspoons kosher salt 1/4 cup sugar 1 teaspoon ground allspice 1 teaspoon fresh ground pepper 1/4 cup vegetable oil 1 Tablespoon unsalted butter
Directions
Bring a large saucepan of water to a boil and add walnuts. Boil for 10 minutes. Drain and dry on paper towels.
In a small bowl, combine salt, sugar, allspice and pepper.
Heat oil and butter in a large, heavy skillet over medium heat. Add walnuts, tossing to coat. Sprinkle walnuts with spice mixture, making certain to coat all nuts. Cook and stir until nuts are golden brown, about 6 minutes. Remove from pan and transfer to a baking sheet covered with parchment paper to cool.
Store walnuts in an airtight container. Walnuts will keep for about one week.
