Serves 4-6 Difficulty
4 egg yolks 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 teaspoon vanilla 1/4 cup cocoa powder 1/2 cup Kahlua 1/2 pound mascarpone cheese 1/2 cup cream Shaved gf semi-sweet chocolate for garnish
In the top`of a`double boiler, using a hand-held electric mixer, beat egg yolks and sugar together until light in color and ribbons form. Beat in vanilla and cocoa.
In a saucepan bring a small amount of water to a boil and then reduce to a simmer.
Place egg mixture over simmering water, stirring constantly. Add Kahlua, a little at a time, until all is incorporated. Cook and continue stirring for about 10 minutes. The mixture will thicken and be very dark. Remove from heat and let cool. When cool, stir in mascarpone until blended.
In a separate bowl, whip cream and fold into chocolate mixture.
Spoon into 4-6 serving bowls and refrigerate for at least 3 hours.
When ready to serve, sprinkle tops with shaved chocolate.
