2 Tablespoons olive oil 3 garlic cloves, minced 3/4 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper 1/4 pound unsalted butter, cut into small pieces French Bread
Directions
In a small skillet, heat the oil over medium heat. Add garlic, salt and pepper and cook for about 2 minutes. The garlic should soften but not brown. Put the butter in a small bowl and add the garic mixture. Blend until smooth, enough to spread evenly. Heat the broiler. Cut 3/4" slices on the diagonal of a french loaf. Spread the bread slices with the garlic butter. Arrange bread slices on a baking sheet and broil until light brown, about 2-4 minutes. Serve immediately.
